Salem Red Door Foundation

Who we are

Why We Exist

The Red Door Foundation exists to be a place where frontline professionals can step out of the weight they carry and into a space of refugewhere they are supported through chaplaincy care, professional development, and direct support.

We open a door so those who serve others are not left to carry the burden alone.

Our Story

Our Story began quietly in one of the nursing stations frequented by co-founders George Escalante and Annie Derochowski.

George had stopped by to share a reflection from his day serving the frontline staff. At that moment, he asked a simple but weighty question: “Our city doesn’t have a community specifically for frontline staff—what if we created one?”

That question quickly led to another: “What if we built a space where like-minded frontline workers could safely voice their concerns, find genuine community, and ultimately rediscover hope?”

From those conversations, the Frontline Community Support Group was born. For several months, frontline professionals from all over the Salem, Oregon community gathered faithfully—sharing stories, burdens, laughter, and resilience. Over time, it became clear that the need was deeper, broader, and ongoing. With the assistance and guidance of Vashti and Arianna, The Red Door Foundation was established in June 2025.

Why A Red Door?

Historically, a red door symbolized a place of safety, reprieve, and help. A red door meant you were welcome there. That symbolism reflects our mission today.
